Memorial Day Parade Preperations

Just a shout out there to promote the 50/50 raffle.  I have $127 thus far collected from a few members and myself.  If you need more tickets contact Wally or myself.  Who will be selling tickets on Memorial Day?

We're in the last stretch...just 6 more days till Memorial Day.

Still need assistance with the silhouettes and decorating my 6x12 trailer which will have benches for those Legion and Auxiliary members who cannot march...stop by today or this Sat. to lend a hand.  If anyone has a canopy that would fit on my trailer to provide shade, if needed, let me know.  Looking for 3'x1.5' bunting to go around the trailer.

Saturday is looking to be a perfect day to get prepared for the parade.

POST OFFICER ELECTIONS NEXT MEETING!
Consider where you can best serve your Post.  This is a critical time right now!  These are not just titles, they are important responsibilities that need to be taken seriously.  For the past three or four months I have been soliciting nominations for officer positions with only two people putting their names down.  These next few years is where the rubber meets the road for this Post.  The Post membership voted to accept this property, so now we need to step up and manage it...properly.  Without the right leadership, this will all fall apart.  When I speak of leadership, I am speaking of those officers who will lead in their respective areas of responsibility. Ex. Sergeant at Arms responsibilities are to  set up the meeting room before each meeting along with being in charge of the color/honor guard and Post weapons.  1st Vice will oversee & promote membership, 2nd Vice oversees events & parades, i.e., raffles, fund raisers, etc..., 3rd Vice is also acting Service Officer who takes care of veteran's needs such as VA enrollment, records, etc..., We will need a property manager who will oversee building maintenance, general bills, lawn care, Post usage, etc..., etc...!
Reminder:  Get out your ribbons and wear them proudly on your Legion uniform.
For those receiving this message, I ask that you contact one or two other members who you know do not have email.  Snail mail is no longer an efficient way to communicate, in this day and age. Those who choose not to have email choose not to be informed, in a timely manner.
THANK YOU to those who placed flags in our cemeteries!
BTW...We have NEW ammo for the rifles.  I would suggest making sure we have everything we need for Monday mornings 21 gun salutes. (0900 muster at Petersburgh cemetery off Hewitt's Rd.)
I will be at the Watipi Bldg. today around 4:30PM to show Sharon Klein the military memorabilia located in the wooden chest, in the closet.  She is interested in displaying military items, at the historical center (Old Town Hall).  The historical Center will have it's grand opening on Memorial Day.  This would be a good time to ensure all flags, equipment, ammo and rifles are ready for next Monday.
I will be mowing the main lawn area this Sat. to ensure it is suitable for the cookout after the parade.  I will also we mounting our American Legion Banners on the East & West side of the building.
